South Bay Real Estate Portal               southbaylife.com

Sun, sand, sea - average temperatures of 70 degrees in the summer and 55 degrees in the winter, charming small communities, low crime rates and a top-ranked public school system.

The South Bay has all this and more to offer residents and visitors alike.  And what started off as nothing but one vast sweep of rolling hills covered with fields of grain and large herds of grazing sheep is now one of the most desirable places to live in the greater Los Angeles area.

It's a Way of Life

The perks of beach living aren't limited to beautiful sunsets and cool temperatures. There are also limitless year-round beach activities to enjoy - rollerblading, surfing, sailing and volleyball are but a few. In addition to beach activities, winter skiing and snow boarding are only a few hours away at Big Bear, Mt. Baldy or Lake Arrowhead. There are also several National Forests within a short drive where you can do some hiking and get back to nature.

The South Bay also plays host to world class sporting events in Beach Volleyball, Tennis and Bicycling so don't forget to mark your Calendar now for any upcoming races and tournaments.

The Strand is the perfect place to jog or walk and also take in the neighborhood.  Between the multilevel million dollar homes that over look the Pacific Ocean you can still find the occasional cottage or bungalow that were so common so many years ago.

Climate

Gentle westerly sea breezes take the edge off what can be high summertime temperatures in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the county. The same breezes help keep the smog away 360 days of the year.

The best months to visit are mid to late summer; July, August & September. June is generally overcast and foggy throughout most of the days hence the term "June Gloom”.

Thriving Job Market

The South Bay boasts a thriving economy. Property values held steady in the early nineties while elsewhere they were falling. The area is within a few minutes commute of many of the largest and best known names in corporate America in fields such as aerospace, high tech, industrial, service and finance.

The South Bay's close proximity to LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) makes the beach cities attractive to businesses dealing in international affairs. Also a short distance away is the west coast's main port of call, Long Beach.

Community

There is a great sense of community in the South Bay that is not found in the more central L.A. cities. People come to visit and never leave. And because so many of the residents have been in the area for a long time, they get to know each other, look out for one another and ultimately add value to the community. The South Bay is a great place to live!
